The Cost of Forgiveness – Contagious Forgiveness – Week 3

Forgiveness is not…

  • Understanding
  • Forgetting
  • Avoidance
  • Acceptance
  • Getting away with it

Forgiveness COMPLEMENTS justice; it does not REPLACE it.

Forgiveness will cost us…

  • Our RESENTMENT
  • The right to the CONSEQUENCES of our forgiveness.
  • Our sense of JUSTICE.

Two burdens of Forgiveness:

  1. The HURT stays with us.
  2. The INJUSTICE stays with us.

II Corinthians 2:5-8

The Grace of Forgiveness – Contagious Forgivness – Week 2

Forgiveness is…

  1. An act of FAITH (Romans 12:19)
  2. An act of GRACE (Luke 23.34)
  3. An act of PERSONAL WILL

Forgiveness doesn’t depend on what we can do but on what Christ has already done!

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”

– C.S. Lewis

Contagious Forgiveness – Week 1

  1. If you have a grudge against someone, you have to FORGIVE that person and truly let it go and LET GOD work on that person.
  2. We must be CLEAR in our hearts in order to converse and have communion with the Holy and righteous God!
  3. God places VALUE on each and every person… Even the one that has HURT you…

For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:13

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have
anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Matthew 11:25
